MixPill — Free, with an optional Pro licence
System requirements
- macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later
- Apple silicon or Intel Mac
- Roughly 20 MB of disk space
Installing
- Open the downloaded
.dmgfile. - Drag MixPill into your Applications folder.
- Open MixPill from Applications (or Launchpad).
The first-launch Gatekeeper prompt
MixPill is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS Gatekeeper should let it open normally the first time — no "unidentified developer" warning. If macOS still shows a warning (this can happen after a direct download depending on your browser and settings):
- Right-click (or Control-click) MixPill in Applications.
- Choose Open from the menu.
- Click Open again in the dialog that appears.
You only need to do this once. After that, MixPill opens normally like any other app.
Verifying the signature
If you'd rather confirm the binary yourself before running it, check its Developer ID signature from Terminal:
codesign -dv --verbose=4 /Applications/MixPill.app
The output should show a Developer ID Application identity issued to:
Developer ID Application: MixPill (Team ID: [Your Team ID])
What happens on first run
MixPill asks for the System Audio Recording permission the first time you move a fader — that's the Core Audio process tap API doing its job, not MixPill reaching for more than it needs. See exactly what MixPill asks for and why on the privacy page.
